Put two names together and see what they become in Home
Name Combinery blends any two names, words or nicknames into new ones you can actually use — a couple nickname, a baby name shortlist, a brand idea, or a Wingdings message nobody can read without the key. Type, blend, copy. That’s it.
- No sign-up needed
- Works on phone and desktop

Choose the combiner that fits what you’re naming
Each tool follows the same simple pattern — two inputs, one blend button, a list of results you can copy. They differ in how they cut and join the names.

Couple Name Combiner
Generate cute, cool, or funny ship names for couples with our smart name masher.
Baby Name Combiner
Blend mom and dad’s names to discover meaningful baby name options for boys or girls.
Wingdings Translator

What a name combiner actually does
A name combiner takes two names and looks for the places where they can be cut and rejoined without the result sounding broken. Most names split cleanly at a syllable edge — Ay-e-sha, Bi-lal — and a combiner tries those cut points one by one, keeping the pairs that still read like a name a person could say out loud.
Doing this by hand is slow. Two five-letter names have dozens of possible splits, and most of them produce clumsy results you’d reject in a second. A tool runs through all of them in a moment, filters out the unpronounceable ones, and hands you the short list worth thinking about. You still make the choice — the tool just clears the noise first.
In Home Where each tool cuts differently
The four tools on this site share that basic idea but tune it for different jobs. The differences are small on paper and obvious in the results:
| Tool | Best for | How it blends |
|---|---|---|
| Word Combiner | Brand names, usernames, project titles | Joins whole words and word fragments, including compounds |
| Couple Name Combiner | Ship names, wedding hashtags, joint accounts | Favours short, punchy two-syllable results |
| Baby Name Combiner | Shortlists that honour both parents | Keeps the syllable rhythm of a real given name |
| Wingdings Translator | Puzzles, party invites, hidden messages | Swaps letters for their symbol equivalents, both directions |
How to blend two names
The order matters here, so it’s worth reading once.
Type both names
Enter the two names in either order. Swapping them gives you a different set of results, so it’s worth running it both ways before you decide.
Blend and scan
The tool returns a list rather than a single answer. Read the results out loud — a blend that looks odd on screen often sounds fine, and the reverse is just as true.
Copy what you keep
Copy the ones you like and check them where you’ll actually use them: a username search, a domain lookup, or simply saying it to someone else and watching their face.
What people build with blended names
Nicknames and hashtags
One shared name for a wedding hashtag, a joint account handle, or the caption you use for every photo of the two of you.
Baby name shortlists
A given name that carries a piece of both parents, or a grandparent’s name softened into something that fits this decade.
Brand and product names
Two plain words merged into one that’s short, spellable, and far more likely to have a domain still free.
Usernames that stay yours
Invented words survive signup forms better than common ones. A blend is unusual by construction, so you rarely need trailing numbers.
Character and place names
Blend two real place names for a town that sounds like it exists, or two given names for a character who feels like they come from somewhere.
Coded messages
Run a note through the Wingdings translator for a scavenger hunt clue, a puzzle invite, or a classroom activity that needs a decoder key.
Five checks that separate a good blend from a bad one
Blended names fail in predictable ways. Run any result you like through these before you print it on anything:
- Say it to someone who hasn’t seen it written. If they ask you to repeat it, the blend has a consonant cluster your eye forgave but your ear didn’t.
- Spell it over the phone in your head. Names that need spelling every single time get shortened by other people, and you don’t get to choose the short version.
- Check the accidental word. Merged names sometimes land on a real word in another language. A quick search takes ten seconds and saves genuine embarrassment.
- Look at the initials. The first letters of a blended full name spell something. Check what.
- Sleep on it. A blend that still reads well the next morning is a different thing from one that was funny at midnight.
A note on baby names specifically
A blended baby name is a starting point, not a verdict. Test it as a full name with the surname attached, try it in the shortened form other kids will inevitably use, and check how it’s spelled in every language spoken in your family. Naming customs vary a lot, and a blend that works beautifully in one tradition can read strangely in another — worth a conversation with the relatives before the birth certificate.
Frequently asked questions
Are the tools on Name Combinery free?
Yes. Every tool on the site runs free with no account, no trial period and no limit on how many blends you generate. The site is supported by advertising, which is why you’ll see ad units on the pages.
Do I need to create an account or install anything?
No. The tools run in your browser as soon as the page loads. There’s nothing to install, no extension, and no sign-up form standing between you and the results.
Are the names I type stored anywhere?
The blending happens in your browser and the names you enter aren’t kept once you close or reload the page. If a tool offers a save-favourites option, that list lives in your own browser storage and stays on your device.
What’s the difference between the couple and baby name combiners?
The couple combiner aims for short, memorable nicknames — the kind that work as a hashtag or a handle, where a bit of silliness is fine. The baby combiner is stricter: it keeps the syllable pattern of a real given name and drops results that would be awkward to spell or say for a lifetime.
Can I use a blended name for a business or a domain?
You can, and invented blends often have better domain availability than dictionary words. Check the name against a trademark database and a domain registrar before you commit, though — availability and legal clearance are two different things, and the tool checks neither.
Do the tools work with non-English names?
They work with any name typed in Latin letters, including Urdu, Arabic, Hindi and Turkish names written in Latin script. Names in other alphabets need transliterating first. Results are strongest for names written the way you’d actually pronounce them.
Why do I get different results when I swap the two names?
Because order changes which part of each name survives the cut. Put a name first and its opening syllable usually leads the blend; put it second and its ending does the work. Running both orders roughly doubles your options for no extra effort.
What is Wingdings and why would I translate it?
Wingdings is a symbol typeface that maps each keyboard character to a small picture instead of a letter. People use the translator to write hidden messages for puzzles, scavenger hunts and party invitations, or simply to work out what a string of symbols in an old document was supposed to say.
Do the tools work on a phone?
Yes. Every page is built to work on small screens, and the copy buttons work with a normal tap. No app is needed.
Can I use the results commercially?
The names generated here are yours to use. Name Combinery makes no ownership claim on anything a tool produces. Do check trademarks before using a blend as a business name, since another party may already have rights to something similar.
